John Spier's depth of experience and consistently outstanding results make him an excellent choice to lead Covenant Bank as Chief Executive Officer. His business achievements include former leadership roles as the President and CEO of the former Bucks County Bank and Trust, a $1.2 Billion, 22 branch community bank until 1993, prior to its sale to CoreStates; and, Co-founder, President and CEO of FirstService Bank which opened its doors in 1995 and was sold to National Penn Bancshares in 2003 for $94.5 million, providing an impressive compound annual return of 25.2%. John's knowledge and expertise has provided a benefit to over 35 financial institutions for which he has consulted over the past 30 years.
In addition to having a reputation for driving strong performance, John is highly respected for his integrity and character and has a plethora of personal skills including corporate governance and board relations, administration, strategic planning and visioning, marketing, capital formation and finance. He has been a featured public speaker for over 50 banking organizations, many industry trade association conventions, and nonprofit organizations, and also co-authored (with William H. Eastburn III), "A Practical Guide to Effective bank Boarding".
Understanding that banking is all about people, John inspires a standard of "being the best" within his team of industry veterans at Covenant Bank. He also models giving back as he is presently or has formerly served on the Board of Directors of Pearl S. Buck International, Bucks County Historical Society, Grand View Hospital, Cairn University, The Kings College, New York Foundation of Leadership, Pennsylvania Bankers Association, and the Mercer Museum among others. In addition, John invests time as an active volunteer for various community organizations as well as his church.
John is a graduate of The Kings College in New York City where he served his alma mater for many years as a Trustee, and was voted Alumnus of the Year in 2007.
